Glen Cairn author C.B. Forrest released his newest novel, Slow Recoil, on Dec. 8.

The follow up to The Weight of Stones, which was shortlisted for the Arthur Ellis Award for best first novel, takes place a year after Sept. 11, 2001.

“I wanted to set this story in the year after Sept. 11th when we found ourselves in a whole new era,” said Forrest, a former court journalist for The Sudbury Star and Northern Life.

Main character Charlie McKelvey is thrust into a world he has no experience with; in the middle of an international mystery surrounding a war he has no understanding of.
